07/31/12 - CARITAS and The Healing Place (Homelessness, pt. 4/5)

About this episode:
Substance abuse is an issue ubiquitously related to homelessness; some people fall into homelessness due to their addiction, and others turn to drugs or alcohol to cope with homelessness. Ensuring that people have a way to overcome addiction is often the key to returning healthy, functional people to a home. Today’s program features Karen Stanley, Chief Executive Officer of the nonprofit CARITAS. She’ll discuss homelessness and addiction in the context of one of CARITAS’ services, The Healing Place. The Healing Place supports homeless adults who are either in recovery from or currently dealing with addiction. Inspire Indeed also welcomes Bob, a successful former client of The Healing Place who now gives back to the mission as a peer mentor. He’s here to share his personal story about homelessness and addiction and what steps led to his stable recovery.

Guest speakers:
Karen Stanley, Chief Executive Officer of CARITAS
