09/24/13 - Bike/Walk RVA and the Partnership for Smarter Growth

About this episode:
Since Richmond will host the UCI World Road Cycling Championships in 2015, official public and private sector attention has been focused on duly provisioning the city for the big event -- but how much would infrastructural improvements increase the safety, ease, and value of everyday bicycling and walking around Richmond? Policymakers, advocates, experts and planners say that cycling and walking would reduce emissions, promote fitness, and refocus on local business, improving the environmental, physical, and economic health of Richmond. Many organizations are convening to facilitate the educational, infrastructural, and cultural changes that would develop Richmond’s bike- and walk-ability. Would you like to learn about urban innovations that would make Richmond more cyclist- and pedestrian-friendly? Bike/Walk RVA and the Partnership for Smarter Growth are co-hosting the “A Look Into The Richmond Region’s Bike Future” community forum, panel discussion, and short film screening on Thursday, 9/26, at 5:30 pm.

Guest speakers:
Max Hepp-Buchanan, Director of Bike/Walk RVA
Brianne Mullen, Executive Director of Partnership for Smarter Growth
